Welded connections are connections whose components are joined together primarily by welds. Welds can be classified according to;- Types of welds: groove, fillet, plug, and slot welds.
- Positions of the welds: horizontal, vertical, overhead, and flat welds.
- Types of joints: butt, lap, corner, edge, and tee.

2) Bolt connection and rivet connection:Bolted connection is more frequently used than other connection methods. They are very easy to operate and no special equipment is required. This is in particular due to the development of higher strength bolts, the easy to use and strong structural steel connections become possible.
Rivet is a round rod that holds two metal pieces together permanently. Rivets are made from mild steel bars with yield strength ranges from 220 N/mm2 to 250 N/mm2. A rivet consists of a head and a body. The body of the rivet is termed as the shank. The head of the rivet is formed by heating the rivet rod and upsetting one end of the rod by running it into the rivet machine. The rivets are manufactured in different lengths to suit different purposes. The size of the rivet is expressed by the diameter of the shank.
